About me

J Ryan lives in Den Haag and is represented by Ines de Vos at Jack and Jill International Talent Agency. He has a resident permit, valid passport and is available to work in Europe. Before that he was a NYC theater, tv, film, commercial, and voice over actor and is represented there by Dulcina Eisen Associates. Before the pandemic, he was very pleased to have called the Argyle Theatre his home having performed in 3 productions at the theatre. He was seen there as Grimsby in Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID directed and choreographed by Tara Jeanne Vallee, Marvin Shellhammer in MIRACLE ON 34TH ST directed by Evan Pappas, and Elle’s Dad and Winthrop in LEGALLY BLONDE directed and choreographed by Antoinette Dipietropolo.

In 2018 J Ryan was asked to perform as Molina in the KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN TRIBUTE for Hal Prince, John Kander and Chita Rivera at the Chita Awards. The tribute was produced by The American Dance Machine with direction by Lloyd Culbreath and with musical direction by Jeff Saver and Eugene Gwodz.

J Ryan has been seen touring across the country as Carmen Ghia in the national tour of Mel Brook's THE PRODUCERS, directed by Nigel West and choreographed by Lauren Kadel, with original direction and choreography by Susan Stroman. Some highlights of the International Tour include performing at Place des Arts in Montreal and at Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. FOSSE was the first American Musical to play at the Chatelet; it received rave reviews and the show’s success paved the way for more American Musicals to play there. Also while in France, J Ryan performed with Ben Vereen and cast on France’s TV show Vive le Monde. J Ryan was the Dance Captain and Swing for the North American Tour of the WIZARD OF OZ, directed by Nigel West and choreographed by Leigh Constantine. While on tour he understudied the Emerald City Guard and stepped into the role numerous times. During the tour, J Ryan had the privilege of performing at Madison Square Garden and at the National Arts Center in Ottawa for Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
