Sonia OKACHA is a French/Moroccan actress, scriptwriter, freelance journalist and a radio host. Born in Safi, Morocco, she grew up in Casablanca, where she received a French education at the French Highschool of Casablanca. During her childhood she developed a strong interest in drama and joined a theatre group. From then, she regularly performed on amateur theatre plays. In 1998, she left home to pursue studies in trade and marketing at La Sorbonne in Paris, France. But after more than 10 years in Paris and a successful starting career in international press, she decided to go back to Morocco. 

Her meeting with the director N. Lakhmari, and her lead role in his film Zero marked a turning point in her career as an actress. In 2013, she won her first film award (Best supporting actress) for her performance in Zero at the National Film Festival of Tangier (Morocoo). Fluent in English, French, Spanish and Arabic, Sonia brought her skills to the big screen on various international project and made several appearances in US TV series (The red tent, Ad. The Bible, Killing Jesus…). In 2015, she’s offered her first leading role in La Moitié du Ciel by A. Lagtaa and won for her performance, the Best actress award at the Muscat International Film Festival in Oman (2016) .  The same year, she starred as Al Horra in Brahim Chkiri’s historical TV serie of the same name. 

She’s also known for her participation in Brad Anderson’s Beirut, Yassine Maroccu’s Jamal Affina or Saad Chaibi’s 3M for which she received a special recognition at Tetouan International Mediterranean Film Festival in 2019. She lately appeared on Simon’s kingberg TV serie Invasion, and Oded Ruskin’s No man’s land.
